About Programme

Mechatronics, as a word, literally consists of the words mechanics and electronics. Simply, it is an engineering branch and discipline which combines mechanical, electronics and computer engineering disciplines. Mechatronics Engineering Department in Natural Sciences and Engineering Faculty of İskenderun Technical University was built in 2016 and undergraduate education in the department commenced in the Fall semester of academic year 2017-2018. Education language is Turkish.

Our department has the following objectives; Reaching up-to-date scientific and technological knowledge and building an innovative infrastructure, forming collaborative research bodies with equivalent national and international institutions, competing globally in research, and publishing with high-standards and bringing up future generations in these principles, taking up and developing collaboration between industry and academia in relevant disciplines.

Qualification Awarded
The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Bachelor Programme in Mechatronics Engineering
Admission Requirements
Those who want to enroll in ISTE undergraduate degree programs must get the sufficient score required by ISTE from the exam administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) and should not have an existing enrollment in another higher education program. The rules and regulations in “Directive On Application and Registration of Foreign Students” are applied to the students from abroad who want to enroll in this program.
Higher Grade Transition
To study in the graduate programs, the students are required to take an exam called "ALES" (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Exam), which is also administered by ÖSYM, and submit this score with their application. The applicants have to meet additional program requirements defined by the universities.
Graduation Requirements
To obtain their degree, a candidate should have taken and successfully completed all the mandatory as well as elective courses specified in their program of study, collected 240 ECTS, had 2.25 GPA (out of 4.00), and successfully completed their internship(s).
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Department graduates can be employed in different universities, governmental agencies, corporate institutions, research institutions located in-land or overseas as Mechatronic Engineers. For example, possible sectors can be summarized as: Automation companies, defense industry, instrumentation firms, manufacturer of space vehicles, of satellite systems, airplane industries, robotic firms, robot automation companies, robot manufacturers, intelligent systems manufacuturers, biomedical firms, automotive industries, gas distribution companies, renewable energy companies, petrolium distribution and processing companies, hydroelectric power stations, steel manufacturing companies, construction companies, ceramic and glass industry, water and waste water processing utilities, food and pharmaceutical industry, textile and paper manufacturers, machine manufacturers, termic powerstations, energy distributors, chemical processing plants, shipyards and marine transportation ports, nuclear powerplants,
Assessment and Grading
The midterm and final exams represent 40% and 60% of the final grade. All exams are worth of 100 points. A student obtaining one of the grades (AA, BA, BB, CB, CC, G, and B) are considered successful. In addition, students with CD or DD graded courses are considered successful only if they had a yearly GPA over 2.25 in the given year. To enter exams (midterm or final exams) students must meet following requirements that are specifically outlined in “Mustafa Kemal University regulation for vocational and undergraduate education and examination”. These requirements are:
a) Enrollment for the course in question,
b) At least 70% attendance of the course,
c) At least 80% attendance of the practices in the course,
d) Successfully completing practical projects.
Other matters related to learning and exams are given in Iskenderun Technical University regulation for vocational and undergraduate education and examination”.
